This watercolor was done to capture the eerie light as a storm broke over the lake by my sister's place in Pennsylvania.

This painting was a pure product of my imagination. It reminded me of some of the poor rural areas near defunct coal mines I saw growing up in Pennsylvania.

This painting was done from a photograph I took when exploring the Capitola area with friends one rainy day. I feel I was able to capture the serenity I felt that day as the rain had kept visitors at bay.

The violet colors reflected in the surf was the thing that caught my eye when I did this painting..

This was painted from a photo I took along 17-mile drive near Carmel. I added the water where there was a golf course. It just seemed to look better that way!

Again the colors of the sea on such an overcast day were what got my attention in this scene near Cowell Beach south of Half Moon Bay.

The beach always seems to be cloudy whenever I go. So it was this day. Because of the wind that day it was painted from a photograph I took rather than fight the elements.

I guess I just like rainy days! I photographed this scene near the railroad tracks outside of Crockett.

Again a photograph was used as reference, but with changes made to enhance the value pattern and composition. I can really feel the water rushing downhill in this work.

The muted colors suggest a deep woods on a dark day and the few yellow leaves suggest winter is coming soon.
